UIF to ISO Converter GUI
This tool has been superseded by the original uif2iso converter (© Luigi Auriemna), which now has it’s own GUI. Use that.
Recently I made a converter GUI for daa2iso. Now I’ve decided to follow up with another similar tool - the UIF to ISO converter GUI
It’s almost the same as the previous one, except that it operates on files with the UIF extension.
The original converter application was created by Luigi Auriemna. It’s a command-line tool, which means the average computer user wouldn’t know how to use it. That’s why I made this version that has a more familiar and simpler Windows-based interface (a.k.a GUI).
Features
Converter by Luigi Auriemna, interface by me - Janis Elsts.
- Converts UIF archives to ISO files. You can then burn the ISO file to a CD or DVD with one of the many freeware tools like ImgBurn. Pretty much all of CD/DVD tools support the ISO format.
- Simple Windows interface - two input boxes and a button.
- Easy to use - just drag-and-drop an UIF file into the tool’s window and click “Start conversion!”.
- Doesn’t require installation - extract the .zip file somewhere and run uif_converter.exe.
Download UIF to ISO converter
Download : uif2iso_gui.zip (230 Kb) and uif2iso.zip from this page.
Extract all the files from both archives to the same folder and run uif_converter.exe to begin. If that doesn’t work, try uif2iso.exe - it’s interface isn’t as good (IMHO), but it should work as well.
FAQ
Do I need to download the converter/interface separately?
Yes. Luigi - the author of the converter - asked me to do it this way.
When I tried to convert a file something just flashed on my screen and nothing else happened! Hmm?
That’s probably because the converter encountered an error. You can try to run it from the command prompt to see the particular error message - feel free to study the beginners guide to WinXP command prompt if you don’t know how.
I tried the command prompt and it still doesn’t work. What now?
Keep in mind that I only created the interface, not the actual conversion algorithms. So I probably can’t help you in this case. You might have better luck if you try to contact Luigi, the author of the converter.
I have a question about the GUI part, who do I ask?
You can leave a comment below.

thanks
Rock On! Thanks for two great tools!
thanks for an awsome progam. Did the job, no nicnacs.
many thanks for you and mr luigi. this converter is very fast and i like it
very much because i can use it in my suse
I´m very VERY glad that people like you exist!!
wtf? mine wont convert…says it cant convert it….cos its not there…but i JUST downloaded it! GRR
Hmm. Maybe to move the file to a different location and try again? Are you using the ‘…’ button to select the file?
Great offering. However it fails to work for me for some reason. But not your problem it’s the actual converter. It continues to kick out “invalid argument” errors though I’m unsure why. Was hoping to not have to install MagicISO just to convert the only UIF file I’ve ever encountered.
Have you tried to run it manually? I’ve tried to make the GUI reasonably robust in choosing the arguments for the converter, but it might not be 100%.
Sorry, I wasn’t explicit enough. I had to run the converter manually in command prompt to even see “invalid argument” the error. I’ve contacted Luigi directly and will consider trying a demo of MagicISO to see if their tool can convert and thus rule out the actual source. The UIF is 3.4GB in size so maybe I’m pushing the boundaries of these tools, or maybe the UIF is simply corrupted/invalid though I’d expect some more explicit error if that was the case. “invalid argument” sounds like the converter is receiving invalid instructions. However, it doesn’t get much more simple than “excecutable file1 file2″
Good work on the GUI.
Ah, okay
Excellent piece of software, can highly recommend. Does exactly what it says on the tin.
I figured it out now…
Thanks And thanks and thanks For this Beutiful Prog , And this Beutiful Blog .
Thanks man. Thanks a million.
Awesome little program .. worked great … thanks
This is really superb…
thanks a lot…
This sounds great. Are there any known issues under Vista [32 bit] ?
No known issues at the moment
Many thanks for such a quick response - vista seems to object to just about everything else I throw it it so I had to ask! I’ll give it a go & let you know if I find any probs, If I don’t then, thanks again in advance…
Just wanted to add my thanks as well
Downloaded in seconds, ran in seconds, two files converted. Be proud of making these utils available
thanks thanks thanks!
Nice Job!
Does what you say it will do, no fuss no muss.
Ran using WINE under Ubuntu Gutsy just fine.
Does exactly what it says it will do! Thank You! I was dreading purchasing MagicIso because of their lack of customer support. Thanks again!
Tried running on Vista but just got the the cmd screen “flash”, so actually ran it from a commad prompt and got the error msg “wrong bbis signature”. Has anyone else had that?
I’d guess that means the file you have is not recognized by the current version of the converter.
Awesome tool, I give thanks once again to the people willing to put time and effort into helping the world for free. Without people like you the net would be a smaller world or everyone would be giving money to fat cat corporations to further fund their strangle on the free world. As a student i really appreciate free software, without it my degree wouldn’t be happening.
Thank you
[...] ways to call it: extract UIF, convert UIF, unpack UIF, depack UIF, mount UIF (via ISO) and much much more you can Ima…. No more “Magic” on Iso to have this proprietary filetype busted. Thanks to W-Shadow [...]
Am I the only one with whom the program doesn’t seem to work?
I just extracted all files that are included in “uif2iso_gui.zip” and “uif2iso.zip” into one folder, started the UIF converter, told it which uif.-file to process - only to get the message “uif2iso.exe was not found”. I don’t know any further… You do?
The uif2iso.exe and uif_converter.exe should both be in the same folder when extracted. If they’re not, it will complain that “uif2iso.exe not found”.
Anyway, the newest version of UIF2ISO comes with it’s own “GUI”, so my app is a bit obsolete… oh well
I can’t download the second zip file. I get a site in a language i don’t understand… looks like spanish but i could be mistaken
wonderful program.
did exactly like it said. straight to the point and no bs
good job pal
This really works…
Thank you so much for this. I wrestled for ages with magiciso having a conniption and not recognising the .uif.Once I converted with this brilliant little programme, everything is working like a charm. Thanks again
Nice tool, very basic, I needed this to put WinXP SP2 on my CD as an ISO image and then setup a dual boot for linux
nice job !!!
I too was dreading getting stuck with MagicISO.
87% and still kickin. Its a big file
Just what I needed
Nice n’ simple to use & does the job quickly.
Massively appreciated,
Thanks
Fantastic job! Awesome, thnks so much. Though the file of the first link didnt work for me, kept on saying that “uif2iso.exe” not found. So i downloaded it from the 2nd link.
great job
Thank-you. Two perfect little pieces of software. Converted the UIF files Quickly and Easily.
wow! great program! thnx!
I get a message when i try to convert just one particular file it says “wrong bbis signature ” any help please would be hugely helpful!! thanks!
Either the file is corrupted, or it’s of a version that isn’t supported by this converter.
ok thanks, i’ve downloaded a different version of the program i was trying to convert now, makes it easier, i do have one more problem however, after successfully burning illustrator cs3, during the early setup stage it is asking me to insert adobe illustrator cs3 to continue, however it is already in! any help please??
p.s the uif2iso program is amazing! so simple thank you very much!
Maybe it wasn’t cracked correctly? I wouldn’t know.
You could try mounting the ISO file with something like Daemon Tools (google it) and seeing if it works then.
Thanks!!!
thanks man, really helpful
keep rocking
i can’t figure it out :/
i don’t know what you me with “uif2iso.exe - its interface”? :s
It just means that if the converter doesn’t work for you, you could try running uif2iso.exe directly (as opposed to running uif_converter.exe). uif2iso.exe will show different windows (interface).
my bad i didn’t read carefully
i only downloadet the first ting

grazie
Thank You , excellent job !
I had burned a dvd with Magic _ _ _ , I ( WinXp) could not read all the files I verified them all with Isobuster. I also extracted them all with Isobuster without a problem , that’s when I decided to look for something else to work with for UIFs and found your GUI. It worked without a snag , made an ISO - mounted it on a V-Drive ran perfect.
Thanks again
Basically, just click on these two links and you have downloaded everything you need http://w-shadow.com/files/uif2iso_gui.zip
http://aluigi.altervista.org/mytoolz/uif2iso.zip
Awesome. Thanks man. Worked perfect.
Works Great thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
iam having a error massage
error: wrong bbis signature
sombody please give me a hand
The second link - Altervista.org site no longer works, so only one of the files can be downloaded and it won’t work w/o both.
Bummer!
@Rob - it seems that page has been moved here.
The file uif2iso.zip is available at
http://www.badongo.com/file/9762107
i dont understand, ive put both files in the same folder, and ive ran it
but it just keeps coming out saying it didnt work and its an image or something stupid, i really dont get it.
thanks!!!!!
i appreciate your work and in two occasions, you have provided me with the most comprehensive and effective tools.
now, anytime i get stuck with something that is beyond my current knowledge, you will be the first to whom i turn.
awesome job!!!!!
hahaha,this crap don’t work shit
Thankyou so so so much!!!
This is a really handy tool to have!
It’s also nice to see someone make something and not load it with spammy ads and the like.
Just a simple plain dialog box that WORKS!
Thanks again.
it keeps saving it as bin files instead of iso files???
@mike - try renaming them? Might work.
Well,if u tried to make a program which makes a B eeeep b e e e p sound and freezes, you succeded! Otherwise this does not worth a shit!
And what is that ˝download other part from different site˝ about?! It´s like u buy left sock in NY and right one in DC!
@user_NOT - Arrgh, you have discovered the crucial weak point in my plan for world domination. Alas! Et cetera.
Read the big cursive notice at the top of the post, you commenter person
Sorry but this doesnt work at all. I used the zip i went to convert and it just keeps saying that uifexe is not there when i am using the program. oh well will get it sooner or later lol thanks anyways probably something i am doing wrong.
@amy - You could try the uif2iso.exe from this zip.
well for me it does not work :/ both files installed in one directoryan other stufff…
the opens a black window… simbols are running but little later everything stops
just don’t know what to do :/
@Donis - Have you tried running the other .exe file, i.e. uif2iso.exe?
This works PERFECTLY! Just follow the instructions go download both files and the unpack them in the same folder. Then launch the launcher, ???
No Problems at all.
Thansk love this program :)!
Please could someone help me out:
I get this ERROR msg saying ‘wrong bbis signature’.
The file i’m trying to convert is a UIF file. The story behind it is that i originally compressed a few folders with WinRar and then further compressed those with Magic ISO. Probably a silly thing to do but now it won’t open on Magic ISO because i get ‘can’t find the file or file isn’t CD image file’.
So i’m trying to convert it from UIF to ISO but i get this error msg ‘wrong bbis signature’.
Someone please help?
I suspect that if MagicISO can’t recognize the file then you probably won’t be able to get the converter to work either; the file is probably corrupted in some way.
@White Shadow -
Ok Shadow… though if it is corrupted, would that mean all the content that was compressed is now kaput and that there is no way i can recover it???
Here’s hoping there’s a solution!! Fingers crossed!
Elcid
@Elcid - Well, I don’t think I can help with that :/ Maybe you need a different version of MagicISO to open the file?
T_T help please
mine says:
“Error: the compressed input is wrong or incomplete”
@CryS - I think that means the file is corrupted; or maybe it’s not recognized by the converter. I’m afraid I can’t help you there.
I found myself with this fu…ng uif problem and tried with innocence the “right” way to solve it, and nothing at all… what a frustration. So looking for and trying various other ways finally the great light appeared when I found your GUI, and got a 100% perfect ISO.
Really a great job, Luigi, as a user it is simple and effective, many thanks many times, god bless you for your kindly effort.
Please excuse my bad english, thanks again,
gadp56
worked great, thank you.
I am getting the message
uif2iso.exe was not found try re-downloading the program
I downloaded it again and keep getting this message
@Mike - Have you verified that there is, in fact, an uif2iso.exe file in the directory?…
Thanks to you and Luigi!
Works great.
Best wishes.

HI guys thanks a ton to you and Luigi Auriemna.
You guys are life savers from premium f**k like magic iso.
I bloody tried for 2 whole hrs and magic iso was giving all kinds of error.
Then i found your s/w in GOOGLE. Your program so short and sweet. Worked like butter. Keep up the great work.
Hats of to your intelligence and kindness to share programs.
God Bless you and Luigi
Great program, as are a lot of the other useful programs in this site, I wish I would have stumbled across this like two frustrating hours ago. Thanks and keep up the great work!
Great program! I hate PowerISo, becouse i cant use it freeware. but i dont have to use it anymore!! THANKS!
I tried to convert a .uif file, but when I click on the Convert button, it appears a message saying:
“uif2iso.exe was not found! Re-downloading the application would solve the problem”,
