I’ve been lazy in regard to WordPress for the last few weeks. In fact, I’ve had this update more-or-less ready for release a good while ago. In May, I sent it to Anirudh for testing… and I haven’t heard from him since. Now, instead of poking him with a few emails (like a normal person would), I’ve decided to go ahead and release the new version. It’s already up on WordPress.org and you should get an update notification soon.

What’s New

• The ablity to delete themes. The plugin adds a “Delete” link to every theme in Design/Themes. It will ask for confirmation before deleting a theme, but use at your own risk nevertheless. Filesystem permissions must be set so that the plugin can access the themes folder.
• Fixed global update notifications. Now they’re really global - i.e. you don’t need to go to the Plugins tab for the update-check to run.
• New FireFox extension and modified extension/plugin interface. The extension now uses the autodetection feature of the plugin and it is also more secure. The remote install URL now includes an automatically generated, unique verification key. The plugin will also ask for confirmation when you install something using the FF addon (you can turn this off in Plugins/Upgrade Settings). In addition, this means my plugin and extension are no longer backwards compatible with the previous OneClick plugin/extension that were created by Anirudh Sanjeev. He was okay with that
• A “miniguide” thingy in the Dashboard for those who switch to this plugin from Anirudh’s OneClick plugin. It shows up automatically if you have that plugin installed. You can turn the miniguide off in Plugins/Upgrade Settings.
• Some bugs were fixed (or so they say…).

What’s Old

Direct filesystem access is still the only option for this plugin. FTP support is coming… maybe… someday.

On a related note, I’ve been thinking if I should enter the current plugin competition. I have an idea for a plugin - editing and changing the order of the admin menus and submenus. I was mainly inspired by my blog’s Settings submenu, which has 26 entries, all placed in no particular order. Hopefully I’ll find the time to implement it, competition or not.
